The Somonauk community is mourning the loss of Luke Wernsman, a bright star who tragically passed away in a car accident on March 20, 2023. As a beloved student of Somonauk High School and a talented athlete with a passion for baseball, basketball, and soccer, Luke touched the lives of many people in his community.

Luke's passing has left his family, including his parents, older brother, younger sister, girlfriend, grandparents, and countless friends, devastated. Despite the heartbreaking circumstances of his death, Luke's life was full of joy, laughter, and cherished memories.

Visitation will be held at the Harvest Chapel Church in Sandwich, Illinois, on Friday, March 24, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place at the same location on Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., with Pastor Shane Stoddard officiating. Following the service, Luke will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery in Hinckley, Illinois.

In lieu of flowers, Luke's family has requested that donations be made to the Harvest Chapel or the Fox Valley YMCA. These donations will help ensure that Luke's legacy of love, laughter, and fitness continues to inspire others for years to come.
